Well, it’s certainly been a long time since I’ve made, done, or thought anything, at least according to this blog. As it turns out, I’ve been quite busy with all of the above; I even tried to write about life happenings a couple times, but the posts just never felt *right*.
Today, however, I’m back to make note of rather a monumental thing that I’ll be doing soon: becoming a wife. The story of our engagement is, truly, not blog-worth and not terribly important to me anyway since we had known for quite some time before that we intended to live out our lives together. The long and short of it, though, is that together we decided to inform the world of our desire to carry out the rest of our days side by side. Shortly after making that decision, we found out that The Guy could be forced to live in another state for nearly a year. So what with finances and other practicalities, “We’re engaged!” rapidly became “We’ll be married in a few days”.
Sometime in the coming weeks or months, I hope to philosophize a bit on the topic of marriage. Believe you me, I’ve got things to say! But for now, I just want to document this moment because it is obviously a milestone in my life, but also because I feel a renewed urge to record the goings-on in my life. Perhaps because I fancy myself a *Special Snowflake*, I feel like I am on an unusual trajectory into the depths of a brand of marriage one doesn’t see very often. I could certainly be wrong, but supposing that I’m not, I suspect that recording my adventures, drudgery, triumphs, and missteps might help me make sense of this uncertain path I’m choosing to walk.
And so now I have a purpose: I must record all of the adventures in cheese-making and philosophizing on my place in the world as a feminist, humanitarian homemaking wife.
